Silk Kimonos

It's hump day today, and after a long memorial weekend this week is feeling a little off.  Anyone else feeling like that?  I had a relaxing weekend up north with my husband, where we went to visit one of my good friends who lives in a yurt.  We stayed with her, and it felt just like camping. We had a few bonfires, and sitting in the woods listening to the fire crackling, there was no where else I wanted to be. At night, through her sky-light, we could see the stars that sparkled in the midnight sky.  It was rejuvenating, and we also helped build a fence for her chicken coop.  How many fashion bloggers do you know who can say that? We put it up in a day, not without complications as we didn't know exactly what we were doing. But I'm proud to say we got it up, and that it's still standing! It was a privilege to help my friend in her passion for sustainable living. She never ceases to inspire me.

This blog post is all about styling silk kimonos, and no, I wasn't wearing one while I was helping my friend put her chicken coop fence up. But I have been wearing it on repeat! Kimonos are comfy with their silky material, and they add edge to any outfit.  The key to wearing them is some great jeans and a more subtle top.  My kimono, I scored from a thrift store, but I will link similar ones. I paired it with a black top to really set the kimono off. The jeans I'm wearing are 501 Levi's from urban outfitters that I've been obsessed with wearing.  They have a vintage style, mom-jean look, but they are really flattering as well.  This is a combo that is hard to find! You can dress this look up with heels or sneakers.  I chose my favorite Vans to wear, but a pair of strappy heels would look excellent as well! Hope you enjoy this look.
